CPSC Recalls Candles Due to Fire, Burn Hazards

In a press release, the US Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), in conjunction with DD Traders, announced the voluntary safety recall of the Tea Lights in Carruth Candleholder Collection Sets because of the fire and burn hazards the candles pose to consumers.

This recall affects approximately 5,500 of the tea light candle sets. The recall was initiated after the company learned that the candles had the potential to burn with excessive flame height. This excessive flame height poses a significant fire and burn hazard to consumers. The tea lights were sold in home decorating and gift stores nationwide from January 2010 to November 2011 as part of the Carruth Candleholder Collection Sets. The sets contain resin votive candleholders that have a glass insert to hold a tea light in place. The recalled candles can be identified by the stock numbers, which range from 17708 to 17715. The stock numbers can be found on the underside of the candleholders.

DD Traders and the CPSC know of one fire that resulted in minor property damage, however there have been no reports of injury related to this recall.

Consumers are being asked to stop using the tea light candles at once and contact DD Traders to receive a free replacement tea light.
